Convergence - O Grande Evento da DC para 2015!

Falta menos de um mês para que o grande evento Convergence comece a mudar a face da DC Comics, ao menos como os leitores a conhecem desde o início dos Novos 52. Batman e Azrael terão uma aventura inédita juntos na minissérie Convergence: Shadow of the Bat, com história escrita pelo veterano Larry Hama e desenhada por Philip Tan. Ambos os criadores conversaram recentemente com o site Newsarama sobre a produção desta história e abordagem que darão a estes icônicos personagens.

A história de Convergence se passa bem no momento em que Bruce Wayne se recupera dos eventos da Queda do Morcego e, sob a perspectiva de Tan, ele ainda é um homem quebrado buscando seu caminho de volta. Hama contou que vai aproveitar a oportunidade que o domo oferecerá ao tomar as cidades do Universo DC e deixou Batman e Azrael presos em Metrópolis. Bruce está tentando se infiltrar no submundo do crime para implodi-lo, mas não demora para que o Bat-Azrael surja. O escritor definiu a aliança deles como oportuna e conveniente para os dois, ainda que a relação entre eles seja antagônica. Segundo o autor, os dois Morcegos se unirão porque a formação original dos Wetworks (do universo Wildstorm) está atacando a cidade.


Esta é a primeira vez que Hama, que já escreveu mensais do Batman, tem a oportunidade de escrever histórias com Jean-Paul Valley. O mesmo vale para Philip Tan, que o tem como seu herói favorito da DC Comics.

Durante a história A Queda do Morcego, publicada no início dos anos 1990 nos Estados Unidos, Jean-Paul Valley, o Azrael, substituiu o Batman por um período de tempo quando ele teve sua coluna quebrada pelo vilão Bane. Tempos depois, Bruce Wayne se recuperou e reassumiu seu manto, aproveitando para corrigir os erros de Jean-Paul em suas controversas atitudes como vigilante oficial de Gotham City.

Convergence: World’s Finest será a oportunidade de Paul Levitz abordar personagens anciãos, como os Sete Soldados da Vitória pré-Crise, os seres de antimatéria de Qward e Scribbly Jibbet. O clássico autor da Legião dos Super-Heróis, que também trabalhou nos Novos 52 com a World’s Finest de Caçadora e Poderosa, falou ao Newsarama sobre o desafio de visitar personagens tão antigos e fazer o que ele espera ser uma história definitiva. A revista é desenhada por Joe Rubinstein (Superman, Surfista Prateado, Homem-Aranha) com Shannon Wheeler desenhando a arte de Jibbet, um cartunista que relata o que ocorre no que sobrou na Terra dos Soldados.


O desenhista que narra a minissérie é a mais nova encarnação do que provavelmente é o mais antigo produto a integrar a cronologia do UDC: Scribbly era originalmente uma criação autobiográfica de Shelly Mayer.

Quando ele entrou pra DC, teve uma longa passagem por All-American Comics na qual ele aparecia, antes de ter seu próprio título, e ele ainda trouxe-o para uma aparição em um número de Sugar and Spike nos anos 60. Mas faz 50 anos que não vemos este personagem e ele é o ingrediente mágico nesta história.

A inspiração para o pensa ser um conto definitivo dos Sete Soldados é inspirado, segundo o autor, em O que Aconteceu ao Homem de Aço?, de Alan Moore e Curt Swan: um clima no qual é expresso o amor pela essência dos personagens, por aquilo que eles representam. A revista deve se focar mais expressivamente no mais cavalheiresco dos Soldados, Sir Justin.


Levitz, por fim, defende o editorial da editora. Além de citar o talento da editora Marie Javins em juntar todas as peças das minis de Convergence para ajudar a construir a série principal e como este movimento da editora transformou, segundo o ex-presidente da DC, o que seria uma simples encheção de linguiça em uma oportunidade de rever conceitos e relançar editorialmente a linha após a mudança para Burbank:

Eu penso que é uma ideia muito interessante e sensível. […] E então há todo esse esforço de lançar a linha com uma variedade de novas revistas saindo disso [de Convergence] o faz ainda mais desafiador. Mas eu não acho que alguém alguma vez tenha acusado Dan [DiDio] e o co-publisher Jim Lee de não terem coragem.

O roteirista Simon Oliver, entrevistado pelo CBR, deu detalhes sobre Convergence: Plastic Man and the Freedom Fighters, na qual o grupo da Terra-X enfrentará os super-robôs controlados pelo Irmão Olho de Futures End. A revista escrita pelo britânico, conhecido por títulos da Vertigo como The Exterminators e FBP: Federal Bureau of Physics, tem arte do compatriota John McCrea (Hitman, The ’99, The Demon), costumeiro companheiro de Garth Ennis. Só que, segundo o escritor, isso não significa uma revista cheia de podreira e pessoas doidas – nem mesmo o Hitler (afinal, é a Terra na qual os nazistas venceram) estará presente:

De fato, minhas primeiras sinopses foram consideradas com “nazistas demais, super-heróis de menos”. Mas, lá atrás, quando Dan [DiDio] apresentou uma lista de títulos em potencial no telefone, eu honestamente não passei da parte de “nazistas na Nova York ocupada e super-heróis robôs”. Eu estava tipo, “Peraí. Que porra é essa de novo? Oh, eu acho que eu posso fazer isso.”

Procurando uma espécie de caminho do meio, Oliver não quer que o aspecto principal do Homem-Borracha, Eel O’Brian, seja o alívio cômico, pelo qual o personagem é mais conhecido:

Eu queria meio que puxar ele de volta daquilo e trazê-lo a um lugar onde ele estivesse refletindo sobre quem ele era, quem ele gostaria de se tornar enquanto super-herói e fazê-lo tentar descobrir o que ele gostaria de fazer a partir daí. Ele ainda tem um senso de humor – e tem algumas risadas nas duas edições – mas eu realmente espero que os leitores encontrem e se conectem com uma versão mais redonda e meditativa do personagem.

Oliver revelou também que poderia até trabalhar com um personagem como Eel novamente, o que torna o fardo bem menos pesado do que escrever meta-humanos como Superman. O motivo? A falta de bagagem na continuidade:

Sim, nem me fale, eu estava super assustado de entrar no UDC por conta da continuidade massiva, ponto, mas fui salvo pelo Homem-Borracha por ele ter muito menos continuidade para seguir. Há alguns elementos confusos que me apareceram e ficaram sem resposta; um deles é que em certa altura ele é morto e volta do nada – mas tem como você matar alguém que não é bio-degradável?

O escritor, por fim, não deu tantos detalhes em relação aos próprios Combatentes da Liberdade, apenas confirmando a formação da equipe: Lady Fantasma, Homem-Bomba, Homem Boneco, Condor, Ray, Tio Sam e Fantasma Prateado. O argumento foi de que mais detalhes poderiam dar muitos spoilers sobre a minissérie em duas edições, que tem o primeiro número nos EUA dia 29 de abril, na última semana do primeiro mês de Convergence.

A DC liberou para o Newsarama algumas das páginas extras de Convergence #0 e #1, que mostram a coleção de cidades capturadas pelo novo Braniac, que apareceu em Futures End. Esses locais, envoltos em redomas para a coleção espaço-temporal do vilão, surgem não somente da cronologia principal, mas de todo e qualquer quadrinho já publicado pela editora.

A Emerald City Comic Con, que acontece anualmente em Seattle, foi recheada de notícias de várias editoras. Convergence foi o grande destaque dado pela DC Comics sobre suas novidades. Em um painel apresentado por Hank Kanalz estavam os escritores James Tynion IV, Dan Jurgens, Marguerite Bennett, Stuart Moore e Jeff King. King, novato nos quadrinhos, é responsável por escrever a história principal de Convergence, cuja estreia está agendada para a próxima quarta-feira (01) nos Estados Unidos.

O escritor revelou que foi um desafio imenso reunir versões tão diferentes dos personagens em uma única história. “Pra mim, a maior dificuldade foi encontrar o balanço entre o épico e o intimista e acho que consegui. A convergência de todas as publicações semanais – Batman Eternal, Futures End e Worlds End – e Multiversity diz muito sobre o que vem por aí“, afirmou o autor. Jurgens falou em seguida, explicando que era fundamental que Futures End mostrasse um Brainiac que está por trás de todas as versões que o personagem já ganhou. Ele é a grande figura de Convergence.





Em termos de acessibilidade para novos leitores, King explicou que teve uma experiência muito limitada com o Universo DC antes de assumir Convergence. “Foi com a produção da história que realmente mergulhei no histórico da DC“, afirmou. “Crise nas Infinitas Terras, Flash de Dois Mundos e algumas outras podem ajudar o leitor leigo a entender melhor a história, mas o fundamental é Multiversity“. Jurgens então disse que “tudo começa no atual Universo DC e, a partir daí, a história cresce para todos os lados“.

Ao final do painel, Gail Simone apareceu rapidamente para revelar que sua participação em Convergence, mais exatamente na edição especial Convergence: Nightwing/Oracle, é como um sonho realizado. “Finalmente terei a chance de contar a história que sempre quis com a Oráculo e o Asa Noturna“.

Superman é sequestrado e torturado pelo Brainiac original, revelando que todos os Brainiac's que apareceram em todos os anos de vida da DC (incluindo aquele do desenho da Liga da Justiça) são apenas extensões do original e que o Superman é apenas uma versão alternativa de milhares de outros. Brainiac original foi buscar mais uma cidade entre o espaço-tempo para sua coleção e nunca mais voltou (mostrado em Futures End), deixando Telos (o "Alfred" do Brainiac) putinho. O mordomo planetário se transforma em algumas versões antigas do Brainiac, apaga a memoria do Superman e o expulsa do planeta (que por sinal, é o próprio Telos). No final, Telos resolve ficar no comando da porra toda e coloca todas as cidades que o Brainiac original coletou pra cair na porrada.

Agora que convergência acabo, só posso dizer que foi uma decepção GRANDE. Ok, era um filler?sim, era. Mais não poderiam capricha nessa merda não?
Eu tava foda animado pra ver o Superman do reino do amanhã, seus filhos, Diana... e oque acontece? Uma luta entre ele e o Superboy...

E o pior nem é isso. O pior é o SUPERBOY conseguir luta de igual pra igual com um SUPERMAN NA PORRA DO SEU AUGER.

E oque dizer do título principal? oque dizer daquele final que só faz confundir à mente das pessoas?

Custava eles fazer um final que não deixasse a cabeça das pessoas na lua? Era só fala que a porra do universo pre-52 ainda tá por aí e pronto.

Concordo que foi a maior decepção do ano, mas...

E o pior nem é isso. O pior é o SUPERBOY conseguir luta de igual pra igual com um SUPERMAN NA PORRA DO SEU AUGER.

A própria HQ fala que o Superman, Flash e o Robin não estavam lutando para matar, e sim para conter o Superboy sem ferir ninguém (tanto que o Superman pede quase que na história inteira para o Superboy se render).

Eu entendi que os multiversos antigos "digievoluiram" para o atual.. Agora o que isso quer dizer é outra história

A única coisa que se sabe é que tudo se tornou canônico atual da DC, incluindo o universo Pre-52.

Sinceramente? Era mais fácil a DC revelar um megaverso, porque além do fato da Presença só ter criado um universo Pré-crise (o que é algo bem decepcionante vindo do Deus da DC), ela poderia ter posto em alguma região do Megaverso os seus Novos 52 Universos sem alterar o atual. Fora que, tiraria algumas inconsistências do enredo (Injustice estar em Convergence por exemplo) e encaixaria perfeitamente com aquela história de Sangria em Crise Final, onde indiretamente revela que existe algo muito além do multiverso.

Enquanto Convergence foi um lixo, Secret Wars da Marvel será a salvação do ano
